random stuff

since ive been back from china, time seems to pass very fast! going for cca, council meetings etc. but im having fun. and cca's really productive, it almost seems like the last syf, the feeling. but minus the seniors of course. now we are the seniors. -stress- but the whole thing is starting to come back again. excuse me if i sound very vague.

24th: BBQ at Cai laoshi's house! no one brought any camera at all! but anyway.. i reached cck mrt station at about 1pm. didnt see anyone there (supposed to meet at 1.30pm) so walked around in Lot One. then went back to the station. waited awhile and saw yangzhi and sherin! then they went to buy fruits. then yuhsuan and jiahui came. congrui and chang-e appeared from behind. congrui was wearing this weird outfit and chang-e school u. andrea and christine came too. waited for tracie to come and she arrived at 1.45 with xinying and crystal. then we all trooped to the bus stop, took a bus and alighted infront of rows of private housings and walked in. couldnt find the place and had to ask one of the neighbours.
then we reached. his house was quite nice. we all went into the living room and watched a movie. i forgot what it was. but quite nice. oh. the perfect man! then afterthat we watched bring it on halfway before being summoned outside to bbq. me and andrea were poking chicken wings thought the skewer(?) and ended up with um 'bloody' hands. cai laoshi gave us some tips on bbq, had fun eating after that. later in the evening, everyone broke up to ahem gamble. haha. chang-e jiahui jiayun grace were playing mahjong, yangzhi sherin xinying yushuan playing cards, and tracie christine andrea naomi congrui crystal and me played cards outside. and we left at about 8.30! took mrt home with tracie xinying and crystal. was quite fun=D

25th: invest meeting at kap met two juniors first and discussed. elaine came later. after that lifern came along with her whole comm. and chang-e brought her cute cousin along! after the meeting it was raining super heavily the whole road was flooded. i was, surprisingly, the first one to get on the bus. haha.

27th: crash course! went to serene centre macs at 11. met elaine. ate mc muffin and chatted. then started on matrices. then sipei came and she started on matrices. we got hungry after that and bought 2 large fries and 20 pc nugget. sipei wanted lemonade but the person gave elaine green tea, so she exchanged it and threw the green tea into the dustbin! sipei got quite upset and ordered another greentea (not sure why). after that shopped at the second level. there was this supermarket with loads of chocs for christmas. sipei bought peppermint sticks for us! =D and she went to this toy store and bought. um. props. for. camp. hehe. then we went to island creamery! ate a tub of mango ice cream and after my insistence, a baked alaska. yum! then we went back to macs and ordered another pack of fries. haha. and after ms kyeo sent the bloodsucking message, we decided to pop by the bass school to check out our two juniors! haha. after lesson gave them a prep talk (again) hope you two jiayou and buck up okay! after that me and elaine went to orchard. elaine was sucking the peppermint stick all the way on the bus and she looked weird. we went to kinokuniya at takshimaya and i was reading a book while elaine bought hers. we also went to art friend and bought some supplies. saw crystal and her friend=) then we popped home!

im going to miss elaine alot when she leaves for australia. and its kind of sad that im a senior now. no more seniors to take care of us, its our turn to take care of our juniors, and sadly i dont see as much enthusiasm in them. how do i let them understand how we feel, and let them feel the same way? dont want to disappoint the seniors, dont want the section to fall at our batch. a tough job, i must say. jiayou to us.

anyway, some pics in ningbo! two weeks is quite long, dont feel like typing out everything, and anyway dont think i can remember either.

here's xueying (aka SAI) in one of the toilets in the school. they have different types of toilets there. the hostel one has door but a central flush with short walls. the one in the classroom block has no doors. the one in the teacher's block as shown has short walls, but your own door and flush! what a miracle. but most of the public places we went to had toilet bowls with high walls. haha. the ones in the school were all squatting ones. oh the teachers had attached bathrooms (ours was common) and a bath tub! plus TV. sigh.

this is 电教楼206 classroom, where we endured afternoons of lectures about introduction to ningbo conducted by teachers from our attached school. they were also very nice putting up with us when obviously almost everyone's mind was somewhere else.

the choir was the most impressive. the head of their student council was the conductor and she did a great job. it was the best music performance. actually i expected much more out of the performers, given the chineses' reputation, but maybe its because these kids arent in a arts school, and all of them are those really smart and studious type, thats why the performance wasnt up to my personal expectation. they dont really have cca's there, its called 社团 and its optional. the thing is, even if people living in the boarding school wanted to join, they cant, cos after school ends for the day at 4.30, they take a short break and resume studying until 9.30. and the hostel lights out is at 10pm! no life already how to have cca. sigh.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
after the performance we were invited to watch a show put up by the hip hop club. it was not bad. haha. i dont think nanyang would ever be open enough to have this. =)

we went to this museum called 古镇, the old city of ningbo. as in the museum is housed in the old buildings. quite cool. in the morning we met up with this guy who was going to be our guide, but he said he knew singapore better than ningbo. yeah. apparently he comes here with groups quite often. anyway when we reached that place there was another tourguide, a woman. she was really nice and voice was nice too. the museum spreads over a large distance, in 3 seperate buildings, and she walked us the whole way. (she could have been replaced by another person at the other sites)

this place is called hemudu musuem, apparently it was thought that irrigation techniques were brought over to china from india 5000 years ago, but the excavation found cropped rice grains that were 7000 years old, which meant that this was one of the most advance site of that time. this musuem is situated near the site.
